This year we want to Zakynthos (or, as the Italians call it, Zante). The main reason was that Deirdre went there in 1985 to see her Mum's cousin, Di, who is married to a local, Stathi.

Here is a rough map of the island

We rented a villa, complete with pool, at Varres, near Tsilivi.

Stathi took Steve out fishing in the bay. Deirdre and the girls went to the beach.

The car got a flat tyre, so while it was being fixed we relax in a bar (which had a pool) in Kalamaki

Keri is on the far southwest of the island. One of its claims to fame is that it hosts the world's largest Greek flag. It is very big!

We went on a boat trip from Keri to spot Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta caretta). Eventually we spotted this one (so the trip wasn't a turtle waste of time!)

The hotel where Tash and family were staying had a Greek night so we all went along for a laugh.

Our new Chailey friends came over to our villa for a BBQ

Here we are at "Relax Bar" on Banana Beach

Limnionas is on the western side of the island, down a long windy road, but well worth it. There is a taverna, and an inlet which was packed with people swimming

At Di's house saying cheerio

And finally... this is what everyone looked like in 1985 when Deirdre last visited the island:
