January

Yet another night on the town in Brisbane, this time in a rooftop bar on Southbank.

In January we moved house. We no longer live in The Gap, but Eatons Hill, which technically isn't in Brisbane. As well as a slightly bigger house, we now have a separate flat where Olivia lives and a one-and-a-half acre garden; here is Olivia mowing the lawn! We also get lots of visitors (mostly reptiles - see below).

April

To celebrate St George's Day, every year a local brewery (Bacchus) sells its own version of Harvey's Sussex Bitter (which many of you will know is the best beer in the world). They use the actual Harvey's yeast which was supplied to them by Harvey's and normally hold a special event where you can go and purchase said ale. This year, of course, things had to be done a little differently, so I bought a dozen on-line and drank via Zoom with a few friends.

Here is one of the above-mentioned visitors - a common tree snake.

August

This visitor caused a little alarm to the dog and cat - luckily they were they other side of the glass door.

This year, because the Ekka was cancelled, the usual Wednesday public holiday was moved to the Friday, so we made an even longer weekend my taking the Thursday off too and went to stay at a vineyard at Murgon, in the South Burnett region. Only a couple of hundred kms away, but like another world. We found this in the toilet in our cabin - BJ wondered if it was a Cane Turd!

September

Some more-welcome visitors dropped by - looking for some grass presumably.

December

In December we went away for a week with some friends. We stayed two nights at Bargara, near Bundaberg (where we went round the famous rum distillery. I still dislike rum intensely.) Then we had three nights at Seventeen Seventy (so-named to commemorate the landing of Captain Cook there in, er, 1770). From there we took a boat out to Lady Musgrave Island, on the Great Barrier Reef.

Found this chap in the road at the end of the drive one morning - he didn't like me trying to shoo him off the road so he didn't get run over!
